Question:

I lost my central locking key to my 58 plate Ford Fiesta and have been using a manual one now it seems my central locking isn't working which is causing the hazard lights to come on on there own accord. I recently had problems with my window switch too but when they tried to repair it with no avail they didn't connect my door plug back properly. I called AA and they came out and plugged door switch back in so windows work but my central locking still isn't working as I can hear it click and un click by itself also my indicators and hazard light button isn't working I have unplugged the battery to stop the hazard lights going off how do I fix the rest of the problems ?

Question:

I have a 2009 Mazda 6 diesel estate, intermittently the electrics show a problem as if they are restarting, the headlights flicker as does the clock/display, the "Hello" message comes up, the tracking lights come on. It seems like a central electrical fault so I'm wondering if it is (a) battery, even though it turns over strongly in the morning (b) alternator or (c) some electrical component like a central electrical manager module. It started as a very rare issue but over the last week has been getting more and more frequent.

Question:

Hi, I have a 2002 Ford Galaxy 2.3 ghia auto. The rear number plate lights, centre console and dashboard panel lights are constantly on, even when the ignition is off. It is draining the battery overnight so I therefore need to disconnect the battery in order to start it in the morning. Strange thing is that when I disconnect the headlight level adjuster switch from the socket, the rear number plate lights go off, BUT the dashpanel and centre console lights remain on!!! Please help thanks.

Question:

Yesterday I discovered the battery in my Mazda6 (54 reg) was flat, probably because I'd left the side lights on accidentally. The breakdown guy did a jump start and I was able to drive home. Today I discovered that, although the car is driving fine, the buttons on the centre panel (clock and stereo) are not working. In other words, the clock comes on (and the stereo can be switched on) when I turn the car on, but I am not able to reset the clock or re-tune the radio or use the CD player. None of the buttons on the centre panel have any effect (other than the on/off). It's as if some circuit -- through which the centre panel/console controls the clock and stereo -- has developed a fault. What's happened? How can I fix this? Thank you.

Question:

Hi I have a 1999 Ford Festiva, every time I use the A/C or demister my battery goes flat. I was told that it was my alternator, but I find that hard to believe as it charges the battery fine as long as the A/C and demister are not used. I can even have my Cd player on without the car running for ages and the battery is still fine. I was wondering if you can please give me any clues to what it could be. Maybe a loose wire and if so where would I find it? Thank you.

Question:

Hello. I have a 2004 Ford Focus flight. The airbag light is flashing, 4 flashes, then 2 before staying on. I took it to the local garage who plugged it into their diagnostic reader, and the codes it gave were B2227, B2856, B2855, B2226. The mechanic didn't know what to do to repair it. Is this a simple fault? Will it fail the MoT on this? How much would it cost to repair? I think it might be some sort of connection problem, as this was intermittent before becoming a chronic problem. Thanks very much

Question:

Hi, i have a ford fiesta zetec 1.25 mk4 1999 V reg. Randomly sometimes when im driving and i put the clutch in the car stalls, this has started becoming more frequent now and is starting to get really annoying. Any ideas what could be the cause of this problem and how to fix it? Also, my cigarette lighter does not work because 1 of my mates thought it would be funny to put a spark plug in it, is this just a case of a blown fuse? If so where is the fuse board on a mk4 ford fiesta!?? cheers mate. michael

Question:

Just brought a Fiesta 1.4 Ghia X, R reg (1998) for my wife but the remote central locking does not work. I have no manuals with car but looking on internet there is a procedure to follow that should restore the central locking. Unfortunately this is for a 1996 model but i do have the 2 button remote. I failed to understand the procedure because it's not very clear as whether the car (receiver) is being set up from the key fob for vice versa or both!! It describes pointing the key fob at the receiver in the car but the confusion comes when talking about master keys and or in my case both keys together making up the master!! Could you please help me with the procedure and at the same time explain what it is that is going on so that the procsedure makes sense. Many thanks Jason Warner.

Question:

I own a 2006 Ford Mondeo TDCI. I have two issues with the car for which I need you help. 1. When I start the engine the rev needle occasionally hovers around 4000rev for short period and the car sounds like it is struggling to start (the car sometimes even cuts out). Once the car is running the car performance is fine i.e. this issues only occurs when I am starting the car. 2. When I accelerate hard black/grey smoke can be seen to be leaving the exhaust. The car is serviced regularly and nothing is showing up in the diagnostic check. Your help with these problems would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Colin

The driver's side electric window is not working on a Ka (manufactured circa 1998( that I am considering purchasing. The bulb within the driver's side switch is not illuminated. However, the passgenger window can be used from both the passenger side and the driver side. Is this problem easy to fix and does it point to other problems? At first look, all of the other electrics appear OK, apart from a faulty seatbelt indicator light in the instrument panel.

Question:

I have a new style Fiesta on a 55 plate. Last Thursday, I parked the vehicle in Stansted long stay car park.Last night, on our return, we noticed that the left hand side of the instrument panel- the rev counter- had cracked. The vehicle had not moved. On contacting our local dealer, he informed me that the any repair would be out of warranty as it was deemed as trim. On taking the car to our local body repair specialist, he said that in his opinion the unit had be under heat stress - caused by the high temperatures; he also pointed out that the same was now starting to occur on the right - the speedometer. He said that clearly the unit was not meeting its design specs. Could you please advise me if this is a known problem.

Question:

My wife's 2003 Fusion has developed a problem with the engine occasional cutting out at low speeds. The engine restarts easily and then may go for many miles before it happens again. Could it be the Speed Sensor going, but no error fault shows up? The car has ABS fitted. A new water pump was fitted a day or so before the fault develped. Any possible connection or just coincidence? Great site - shame you have no dealership down near London. Thanks.

Recently, when slowing to a stop at a junction and depressing the clutch, the engine revs drop to around 650 - 700 rpm, giving the car a slight judder, as if it's about to stall. Periodically, the above is also accompanied by the battery light flickering on and off on the instrument panel as the car slows and the clutch is depressed. Since this fault started, I've also noticed the radio will often cut out randomly, before coming back on, is this some kind of electrical problem and could it be linked to the above (battery)? Any help much appreciated! Regards, Ian Jones

Question:

My daughter has a 55 reg Streetka. She's had it from new and done 9000 miles, full Ford service history. She has had two replacement alternators. She now has a problem where the charge light comes on, the abs light comes on, and the speedometer spins up and down. The garage say it is water ingress and want to charge her hundereds of pounds to cure this. There is no sign of any water ingress. They say they will not replace the alternator again under warranty, or the ecu if that is faulting. What does she do?

Question:

I have a 52 plate Ford Fusion 3 the engine management light came on and i took it back to the garage i bought it from and they said it had a fuel mixture fault it...their diagnostic machine came up with the error codes of PO130 and PO134 they said that they had repaired the fault... its my understanding that the engine management light should come on when the ignition is switched on and goes off after a few seconds when the engine is started...the light now doesn't come on at all...also when i got the car back from the garage i had to reset the clock...to my limited knowledge of the newer computerised functions of the car for the engine management that there is no need to diconnect the battery so i investigated further and found that the instrument panel had been removed and the security sticker damaged..is there any reason the garage would need to do this if it was a "fuel mixture fault"

Question:

Hi there. This might seem like a strange question but I am foreman of a Ford dealership service department in Palmerston North, New Zealand. We have a 2006 Focus ST Turbo 3 door here that we imported as we don't sell these new in our local market. I'm not sure if you can help me but we would like to know if these give many problems with the ESP. Our one seems to have very sensitive ESP and interveens very early, alot sooner than you would expect. Is this normal for these? If you are unable to offer me any advice on this do you know of anybody over in the UK I could contact who could help me? Thank you for your time and look forward to hearing from you. Question:

I have a 2002 2.0 TDCi Mondeo and can hear a rattling noise from the engine at around 2000 - 2500 rpm, I have been told this may be due to a "ladder rack" any ideas if this is correct or any other suggestions? Also a couple of time at high rpm after the turbo has kicked inthe car has lost power and the heater plug light started to flash slowly ( 1 per second ) is this related to above? The car has been regularly serviced at either 12 month point or 12,500 miles since new whichever was sooner. Many thanks.
