Question:

Hi, I have a ford focus 1.6 petrol from 2000. The handbrake warning light has been staying on after the handbrake has been released and then flickering going off a short time later. This doesn't happen every time the handbrake is released, just sometimes. The performance of the brakes does not appear reduced, and I have checked the brake fluid level which seems ok (about half way between max and min markers), I was wondering how to check the brakes for wear, and also what could be causing this fault. Thanks.

Question:

I am having problems with my handbrake on the Focus C Max 2.0l GHIA 06 model which has the button handbrake instead of the conventional lever. When I am stationary on a hill start with the handbrake on I am unable to pull away in 1st gear using clutch and accelerator and pressing the handbrake down once I get the biting point. It works fine this way on level ground, downhill, or a small uphill incline, but when I really need it on a steep hill it doesnt work. I can only work it by pressing the footbrake and then switching my foot to the accelerator hence I roll back a little.

Question:

Hi, I have a Ford Galaxy 1.9tdi P-reg. Last year (May 2006) I spent nearly £1000 getting te brake system repaired \ replaced at my local ATS. Now that the cold weather has come the brake cable and calipers are freezing on making it impossible to use the car until midday (which is no good for my wifes school run). ATS are saying that the cable was not replaced as part of the works and that they do not do this as it is a pain in the backside to do on a Galaxy. Do you think this is a reasonable response or should I pursue it further with them. I'm rather angry at having spent such a large amount of money only to be left with a car that won't work in Winter. Regards, Ian Lawrence

Question:

There is a clicking noise from my front right wheel when I brake. I took it to the garage and they said it was because the wheel was hitting against the four wheel bolts when I brake, because a bolt that fixes the brake to the wheel bolt area is missing. is this likely to cause me problems? will the four wheel bolts be under too much stress? should i get the bolt hole bored onto the four bolt section, or am I worring about nothing? all there is at the moment is that cluncking sound when I brake. Cheers Colin
